January 31, 2014 Bandaranaike International Airport Colombo Lusifonian Bornze Medalists Sri Lanka Football Team arrives….

The Sri Lanka Under 21 Football team which bagged the Bronze Medal at the Lusifonian games will arrive on 31st January at 4.30 hours. The President of FFSL Mr.Ranjith Rodrigo , Exco Members ,Directors and Staff was at he Air Port to welcome them at 4.30 am on 31st January.The President of FFSL Mr. Ranjioth Rodrigo decided to felicitate the team at the Airport arrival as they for had won a medal for the country for football after many years and also for the performance at the game. In the competition Sri Lanka beat Maccau 1-0 ,Drew with Sao Tome 1-1 and advanced to Semi finals. At semis they held Mozambique to 0-0 draw at the full time of play and conceded a goal in the extra time of play to loose by 1-0. The SL team met Maccau at the 3 rd place game and won handsomely by 3 goals to 0 to clinch the Bronze medal.

It was a very colorful event and the teams had a fun day with interaction of stakeholders specially with singing and dancing which incidentally a stress management and motivational drive the teams and coaches who are preparing for forth coming tournaments where the Men’s team will meet Bhutan for the world cup qualifier and the Women's will tour to Myanmar for Pre Olympic tournament to play against India and Myanmar. The President FFSL addressed them and stressed the point that never before the history that Sri Lanka Football Teams

Seychelles Beat Sri Lanka 3 – 0 In The 2nd International Friendly.

Sri lanka started 5-4-1 formation in defence and 3-4-3 in attack in the 6th minute of the game tharindu lakamal was brought down by defender esther bertand, inside the penalty box, no penalty was given. Within the space of 30 minutes sri lanka was awarded 7 free kicks whereas seychelles had 5, which indicates the way sri lanka was attacking in the first half.

Rain God's seized few hours prior to games begun. Royal and Zahra showed confidence to kick off the first game of the Koto ale Under 19 school football championship. Ball was kicked from side to side with slips and muddy waters splashing and on the 23 minutes into the game Zahira's midfield " " kicked the ball hard and strong along the ground that whisked by the Royal goalie. Second half ended 1-0 with Zahira in the lead.

The South Korea Sri Lanka Friendship U/19 inter league football tournament has reached the finals. The Jaffna Football League will take on Kandy Football League at the finals which will be played at University Grounds. Jaffna at 3.30 pm on Saturday 21st March ,2015. There were 60 league teams from all over Sri lanka participated in this tournament conducted on Knock out format with home and away basis matches for all teams to create excitement ,have more games and level playing for participating teams.Altogether there were 117 matches played and the tournament was very competitive.

Hon. T. Gurukularajah -The minister of Sports of Nothern Province will be the chief guest with Mr. Ranjith Rodrigo FFSL President being the guest of honour for the grand final .The tournament is conducted by FFSL and the final is arranged by Jaffna Football League .
Korean Football Association had provided the funding for the conduct the tournament and promote the Youth Football in SriLanka.
The winning team will carry Korea Sri Lanka Friendship Trophy ,Rs. 100,000/- in cash and the runners up will receive 50,000/- and medals.
The tournament attracted many young footballers to the game and is considered as a gateway for young football aspirants for champions League and National youth squad of the FFSL.

The 30 yard long range shot to net at the 17 th minute by Preneeth Shaminda gave an early advantage to Sri Lanka Under 14 Football team which ended drew 2-2 at the final wistle in the match against Maldives played at Torrigton Grounds of Sports Ministry. The  group  of the AFC Women's !9 Qualifying round will be held in Colombo at the City  Football Complex  Grounds on 7th 9th and 11th November 2014. There  will be 3 countries in this group B with Sri Lanka, Palestine and Iran and the winner will advance to the next round.Sri Lanka team  is coached by Shanika Rajapaksha and assisted by D.K.Samarasinghe.The team is camped  at Sports Ministry Hostel and the team is practicing at City Football Complex. 

Sri Lanka Under 14 Girls team opened the tournament with a  good win beating Maldives 6-0 at Kathmandu, Nepal. Surenthiran Gowri opened the scoring at very early stage to take the lead and at half time the scores were 5 – 0 in favour for Sri Lanka.

FIFA in association with Member Associations has organized Annual Elite Referee Courses as part of the refereeing development program. The program for Sri Lanka is held from 4th May to 8th May 2015 in Colombo (FFSL auditorium). The top 27 male referees and 3 women referees are selected for this high quality course. A FIFA Instructor.for technical Mr.Farkhad Abdullaev and a FIFA Instructor of Fitness Mr. Ganesan Maniam is here to conduct the workshop. Two Local MA Instructors Mr. UL Jaswer and AGC Deshpriya are selected to conduct this course along with the visiting FIFA Instructors, while 5 local instructors M/s TH Burah,Anura De Silva,M.Vadivel,Priyanga Pieris and Mr.Emmanul Arnald will participate as observers.

The course will consist of theoretical, practical and fitness sessions. Session will begin on the 4th May 2015 with a opening ceremony and end on 8th May 2015.FFSL auditorium is the venue for classroom sessions while Sugathadasa Stadium will be the fitness test venue. Mr. AM Yapa the Director Referees is coordinating the programme withMA Ranjith Assisting him.

Mr.Nimal Wickramathunghe the Chairman of Referees Committee of FFSL was the guest at the Opening ceremony and delivered the opening address on behalf of the President FFSL Mr. Ranjith Rodrigo and Mr. A. Anthonypillai Act. CEO-FFSL , Jurian Ondaatje Head of Mar-Com -FFSL

COLOMBO FC WINS THE CARGILLS FOOD CITY FA CUP.
The pack to capacity Sugathadasa Stadium on sinday evening witnessed a football classic and the die hard fans of Kalutara were in tears for the second time when the Blue Star lost to Colombo FC in a thriller by 1-goal to 0.
Madushanka the Colombo FC Sri Lankan youth player collected the perfect double pass which came through Blue Star last defense line sent by Demitri to beat the advancing Blue Star goalkeeper to find the net with a solid instep to make Colombo FC 1-0 at the 68th minutes of the play. There.There were evenly balanced performance till the half time where the score stood as 0-0. In the first 15 minutes of play Colombo FC controlled the game with much ball possession  but experienced Blue Star bounce backed to get the game in to the balance creating some excited attacking movements.
In the second half the ball possession was almost equal and both teams forwards lack direction in many occasions. Blue Star after conceding the goal changed the game plan with more attcking midfielders been substituted to go for the equaliser but could not find the net. At the 76th minute Colombo FC was reduced to 10 men when the referee Azard sent off the Colombo FC stricker with a Red card. Blue Star could not get the advantage of the 10 men situation but the youthful Colombo FC managed to play the game even under tremendous pressure on and off the field.

In order to facilitate the training and mental balance of the players who will be meeting International challenge and pressure for their performance the FFSL conducted a programme of Motivation and empower the players to be more comfortable and also to address their mental stress leading for positive thinking and YES WE CAN attitude. Senior DIG Police Pujitha Jayasundara addressed the teams and said the country is looking forward for their achievements and they can enhance the image of the country in the world though well prepared and dedicated plan of execution.He stressed the point that self determination coupled up with mental and physical balance will assist the players to achieve the desired goals for the country.

He said next episode will see nearly 1000 schools participation and FFSL is geared to take up the challenge to meet the desired goals of the Brand and said SLSFA also should be geared to work with aggrievedly to go for the targets.   He thanked SAMAPOSHA  for being Socially responsible and said it was evident when SAMAPOSHA was crowned as the CSR brand of the year at the SLIM awards 2014.
